7 Forgotten 90s Candies Worth Buying Again

Bubble Tape, Warheads, Big League Chew and four more candies that ran a 90s childhood, and why they are still worth a spot in the cart.

7 Forgotten 90s Candies Worth Buying Again

Nobody planned a 90s childhood around candy, but a lot of the decade's best
memories had something sweet in the background: a sleepover, a Little League
dugout, the last day of school. Most of those candies never actually went away.
They just stopped being in front of you.

Seven worth bringing back.

1. Bubble Tape

Six feet of bubble gum rolled up in a round plastic dispenser, which meant you
could tear off exactly as much as you wanted, which meant you always tore off
too much. Hubba Bubba launched it in 1988 and the pitch has not changed since.

2. Warheads

The sour coating hits first and hard, then fades into a plain sweet candy
underneath. Holding one in your mouth without pulling a face was a schoolyard
sport. The sampler covers the classic hard candies alongside newer sour
formats.

3. Big League Chew

Shredded bubble gum in a pouch, invented by a minor-league pitcher in 1980 so
kids could look like the players with a cheek full of tobacco. It is far more
wholesome in practice: a giant wad of pink gum and a lot of pretending.

4. Nerds

Tiny, crunchy, sour-sweet pebbles that rattle in the box. The miniature boxes
are the format most people remember from trick-or-treat bags, and they are
still the right size: enough for a handful, gone before you get bored.

5. Blow Pops

A hard candy shell with bubble gum in the middle, so it is two treats in a row.
These minis drop the stick and come in a movie-theater box, which makes them
easier to share and much easier to eat on the couch.

6. Candy necklaces

Pressed candy beads on an elastic string. Half the appeal was wearing it, the
other half was the slightly sticky wrist afterwards. They are individually
wrapped here, which makes them a cheap, easy win for party bags.

7. Pop Rocks

Candy that crackles on your tongue, because it is made with pressurized carbon
dioxide trapped in the sugar. The playground rumors about what happened if you
drank soda with it were never true, but they did a lot for sales.

Buying them now

The adult advantage is that you can buy the whole box. Most of these are sold
in multi-packs, so one order covers a 90s-themed party, a care package for an
old friend, or a drawer at work that nobody else needs to know about.
